"Accidents do happen, but when they happen at your job, Workmen’s Compensation Laws are there to protect your future. To make sure you, your husband, and your kids work in a safe and healthy place. If a machine press at work malfunctions or you slip and fall, most times employers won’t report accidents to their insurance companies because they want you to believe it was your fault. whether it is your fault or not, you can always collect money if you were injured at work. There are thousands of accidents that occur at work each year. Many are because of poor working conditions and many are happening to the people we love and the people who have the responsibility to provide for their family. Even illegal residents are protected by Workmen’s Compensation Laws. Rule #1 Always file a report of the accident immediately. Rule #2 Always seek medical attention for your injuries. It is important for you to know you cannot get fired for filing a Workmen’s Compensation claim. You can never legally lose your job."

Workers are unaware that the law has provided them with remedies which will allow them to recover fair and reasonable compensation. The law does not prohibit the injured worker from bringing a lawsuit against any other person, company or firm who may have been responsible for the accident and the injuries resulting.

An Employer can never fire you for filing a workmen’s compensation claim. Neither your employer nor their insurance company can force you to accept a settlement. Every situation is different and unique. The amount of your settlement or the value of your case is determined by your age, type of job, amount earned, and the degree of injury. Aliens, legal or illegal, have the same rights as any other person in the United States to make a claim or sue to recover money damages for injuries sustained by reason of an accident caused by the negligence of another. This right is guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States. If you are injured while working you are entitled to receive reasonable medical care and temporary wage payments while you are off of work. You are also entitled to receive a settlement at the end of the case. Fault is not a factor.
